Date set for FLOW Invitational Swimming Championships
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation (SVGSF) will from August 26 to 28 stage the annual FLOW Invitational Swimming Championships at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre at Ratho Mill.
On opening day, Friday, August 26, the session will run from 1 to 6 p.m., with the opening ceremony set for 5:30 p.m.{{more}}
Saturdayâs first session begins at 9:30 a.m., with the second swimming off at 4 p.m.
And, on the final day, Sunday, start of swim time is 10:30 a.m., with a presentation ceremony convened for the afternoon, following the completion of the events.
Competition will be in the age groups 6 and Under; 7 to 8; 9 to 10; 11 to 12; 13 to 14; and 15 and Over, with swimmersâ ages determined as of December 31, 2015.
They will make full use of the 25-metre pool and the Colorado Electronic Timing System.
Meanwhile, the pool will be open for warm-up 75 minutes before each session and will be closed 10 minutes before the start of each session.
According to a release from the SVGSF: âThe starts, where possible, may be âover the topâ in the freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events.â
In addition, the freestyle relays will be in age groups 10 and Under; 11 to 14 and 15 and Over.
âThroughout the Meet there will be a no False- Start rule for age groups 9 to 10 and older, and a two false start rule for younger age groups,â the SVGST release advised.
Medals will be awarded to the first three swimmers in each event for all age categories of 12 and below, while ribbons will be awarded from 4th to 8th place in each event to the junior swimmers (10 and Under).(RT)
