SVG Rugby Union on ‘Island Tour’

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union has embarked on its “Island Tour”.

Getting the first stop was the island of Mustique, which hosted three clubs from the mainland – Leeward Invaders, Country Pirates and Town Sharks ­– in exhibition matches last Saturday.{{more}}

There, they engaged in a series of Seven-A-Side matches.

According to the SVG Rugby Union, the Island Tour is also, “the beginning process of team selections for a 7s tournament.”

St Vincent and the Grenadines is set to contest the annual Rugby Americas North Sevens, slated for Trinidad and Tobago in November.

Moreover, the exhibition matches hope to raise awareness of the Union, build relationships inter-island, as well as serving as league games.

The Island Tour will include other islands, such as Bequia, Canouan and Union Island, with another visit to Mustique earmarked for December.(RT)
