SVG Cycling Union sends two to Bahamas meet
Zefal Bailey and Enroy Lewis will represent SVG at a cycling meet this weekend in The Bahamas. The duo will contest the three-stage event, which will comprise a time trial, a criterium and an 80-mile race.
Accompanying the two is Emmerson Holder, who will carry out dual responsibilities of manager and mechanic.{{more}}
Meanwhile, Bailey and Lewis warmed up for their overseas mission with a 55-mile ride out last Sunday. The two were the only competitors in Sundayâs elite category.
Bailey stopped the clock at the finish line at Howards Marine at Villa at three hours, two minutes 51 seconds. This, after he had covered the Kingstown to Colonarie route, then back to the Arnos Vale roundabout, thereafter rounding the circuit to Diamond twice.
Lewisâ time was three hours, nineteen minutes, 36 seconds.
Also at it on Sunday were the masters, who used the same route as the two elite cyclists; however, they circuited the roundabout to Diamond route once.
At the end of their race, it was Randy Wilkinson who outrode the other three competitors.
Wilkinsonâs winning time was two hours, thirty- four minutes, 26 seconds, while Peter Durrant docked in second in two hours, fifty-three minutes, 50 seconds and third was Steve Ollivierre in three hours, three minutes, 02 seconds.
Completing the list of cyclists in the masters was Orel George, who did three hours, thirteen minutes, 34 seconds.
