Cavaliers retain BCL 40-over title
Cavaliers held on to the Brooklyn Cricket Leagueâs 40-over title by defeating fellow Vincentian outfit Middlesex by four wickets at Marine Park C.
Taking first strike, Middlesex posted 213 for 9 in their 40 overs. Rod Michael led with 48 not out and Rawle Jackman hit a quick 39, in which he lashed 3 fours and 3 sixes.{{more}}
Bowling for Cavaliers, Orlando Mofford grabbed 3 for 31, Nicholas Brown â 2 for 18 and Timothy Warner â 2 for 36.
Cavaliersâ response saw them getting up to 217 for 6 in 32 overs. Nicholas Brown mastered 107, inclusive of 10 fours and 3 sixes.
Middlesexâs bowling saw Tegana McKenzie taking 3 for 38 and Dominic Audain â 2 for 37.
Cavaliers faced Pak Brighton in their semi-finals on Saturday. Cavaliers scored 227 for 7 in 35 overs, Arlin Hinds â 62, retired hurt, Nicholas Brown â 46 and Casper Davis â 43.
Pak Brighton, in reply, were 192 all out. Bowling for Cavaliers, there were three wickets apiece for Danvilla McKenize and Richie Rupllall, while Casper Davis picked up two.
Also on Saturday, Middlesex ousted Janoon by 100 runs.
Middlesex, electing to bat, reached 277 for 9 from 40 overs; David Lewis top scored with 64. Lewis lashed 7 fours and 3 sixes, while Mark Audainâs knock of 59 was made up of 10 fours and 2 sixes.
Treldon McMillan chipped in with 33 not out.
Janoonâs bowling saw Waqaz Ahmad picking up 4 for 37 and Syad Haider â 2 for 72.
In reply, Janoon got to 177 all out; Rahim Khan made 43, Syad Haider â 34 and Wyne Ahmad â 20.
Rushane Manning â 4 for 29 and Rod Michael â 2 for 15, were among the main wicket takers for Middlesex.
This weekend, the 20-over tournament bowls off.
On Saturday, from 12:30 p.m., at Marine Park A, Cavaliers face Miami Power, while at Marine Park B, Queensbury play Eagles; Imperial face Janoon at Marine Park C and at Marine Park D, Middlesex play Diplomats. Then, from 4 p.m., in another round of matches, Queensbury play Miami Power at Marine Park A; Cavaliers face Eagles at B venue; at venue C, Imperial and Diplomats face off, while Middlesex and Jannon oppose each other at Marine Park D.
Then, on Sunday, Stars play Yankees from 12:30 p.m. at Marine Park A; then, at 4 p.m., Stars again will be in action versus Pak Brighton at Marine Park B, with Queensbury meeting Diplomats at Marine Park C, and the all-Vincy clash â Cavaliers and Imperial at Seaview.(RT)
