GTC Plants, Pets and Poultry Project takes hit
The good intentions of the Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC) to teach pre-schoolers they can be self â sufficient in some respects, are not shared by some other person or persons.
This is the conclusion that can be drawn after the GTCâs Plants, Pets and Poultry Project was dealt a hit by a thief or thieves, who broke into the premises at Murrayâs Road between last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.{{more}}
Head of the club Grant Connell spoke to SEARCHLIGHT about the burglary.
âThey stole 10 rabbits, all of which were pregnant; the young, would have been distributed to the schools in late September….But we have already sourced a buck who would arrive at the club next week and Iâm sure he will show his gratitude for the thief or thievesâ kindness in leaving three does for him, and guaranteed, we will have young soon to keep the project going,â a disappointed, but confident Connell said.
âSome peopleâs actions in St Vincent [and the Grenadines] make you want to give up trying, but it will take much more than a thief to upset my internal compass…. Itâs kind of hard when the little kids look in the pen and ask where the rabbits are; but once explained, that itâs all part of life, I guess itâs just another lesson they will learn at the Grassroot Tennis Club …. Desperation and what causes it,â Connell reasoned.
Undaunted by the unexpected occurrence, Connell projected: âIt will take much more than the actions of a thief or thieves to stop the efforts of the projects of the club …The Plants, Pets and Poultry Project for the pre-schools will proceed as planned and will stay on target to continue in September….This incident actually acts as a catalyst in the process of the clubâs launch of another project in October,â Connell related.
Using tennis terminologies, Connell quipped, âWe may have lost a point now, but we are still on course to win the set and at the end of the match, it will be GTC that will be the crowned as champions for the cause of the impressionable minds â those gems â the dear pre-schoolers.â
