SVGFF head seeking CFU post
President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) Venold Coombs is among nine candidates seeking four places as committee members of the Caribbean Football Unionâs (CFU) executive.
Elections to the new executive take place on July 23 at the XXXIX Ordinary Congress of the organization, to be held at the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel Pan Am Ballroom.{{more}}
Coombs, who is also the president of the Windward Islands Football Association (WIFA), will face challenges from Bruce Blake (Cayman Islands), Hilaren Frederick (USVI), Randy Harris (Barbados), Eric Labrador (Puerto Rico), Alain Mijdt (French Guiana), Maurice Victorie (Martinique), Wayne Forde (Guyana) and Jeaninne Wong Loi Sing (Bonaire).
At the other end of the table, incumbent president of the CFU, Antigua and Barbudaâs Gordon Derrick, will face opposition from Trinidad and Tobagoâs David John Williams and USVIâs Hilaren Frederick.
Meanwhile, Cheney Joseph of Grenada, who holds the position of first vice-president, will have to stave off opposition from Osiris Guzman of the Dominican Republic in a two-way contest, to be the second in command.
Down the line, vyeing for the position of second vice-president are Anton Sealey of The Bahamas and the incumbent Rignaal Francisca of Curacao.
Contesting the third vice-president position are Lyndon Cooper of St Lucia and Fabrice Baly (St Martin). Cooper is the man in the seat.
And, Frederick, Jamaican Raymond Anderson and Richard Dijkhoff of Aruba are the candidates listed to seek the fourth vice-president spot.
When elected, the executive will serve for the next four years.(RT)
