SVG shooters take OECS U-23 shooting competition
While St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) failed to get over the final hurdle of winning the 2016 Eastern Caribbean Central Bank OECS Under-23 Netball Tournament, which concluded last Wednesday night, at the Arnos Vale Netball Complex, its representatives took the titles in the shooting competition.{{more}}
The pair of Khadija Williams and Keneisha Francis registered 74 of their 120 attempts to top the others, when the competition took place prior to Wednesdayâs last two matches of the tournament.
Trailing SVG in the team awards were St Lucia, making good 69 of 116 and Grenada finished third, scoring 68 of their 129 tries.
Williams also topped the individual category, making 46 of her 63 attempts count, with St Lucian Megan Nestor scoring 35 of her 56 and Renisha Stafford of Grenada counting 35 of her 67.
Meanwhile, there were individual awards which were presented to the top performers in the main segment of the tournament.
Taking the Most Valuable Player awards of each team were Shenelle St Rose â Dominica; Kerissa Thomas â Grenada; Aaliyah Gibson â St Kitts; Megan Nestor â St Lucia and Shantal Rouse â St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Copping the Best Defensive Player was Grenadaâs Kerissa Thomas, with St Luciaâs Joanne Anderson carting off with the award of Most Accurate Shooter and Grenadaâs Jeimella John â the Best Mid Court Player.
John collected the biggest accolade, that of overall MVP of the tournament.
Grenada took the team awards for the Most Disciplined Team, the Best Attacking Team, having scored 149 of 214 attempts and Best Defensive Team, conceding 104 goals from their four matches.(RT)
