Teams positioning in East Kingstown Softball Cricket Competition

Teams are positioning themselves for play-off places in the Ruddy’s Electrical East Kingstown Sports Association Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.

Three outfits, Bank of SVG All Stars, Just For the Fun and Rogers Photo Studio Fyah One, made haste while the sun shone on Sunday at the competition’s venue – the Grammar School Playing Field.{{more}}

All Stars, after scoring 145 for 4 from their 20 overs, went on to oust Snipers by 29 runs, Sunday morning.

In All Stars’ total, Andrew Lyttle hit 47, Ron Adams – 30 not out and Newborne Joseph – 21.

Snipers could only reach 116 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs; Marlon Williams – 37 and Vivian Dowers – 23 were the principal scorers.

Ron Adams – 3 for 20, Desmond Bramble – 2 for 15 and Glenroy Dasent – 2 for 18 held a tight rein on Snipers’ batting.

Snipers also went under to Just For the Fun by 10 wickets.

Stein Joseph picked off 4 for 11 and Peter Richards – 3 for 13, as Snipers scored 65 for 9 off their 20 overs. Stein Joseph then blasted 48 not out, to see Just For the Fun to 66 without loss in 4.5 overs.

And, Fyah One disposed of Agriculture Input Warehouse Richards Masters by 78 runs.

Raneke James – 48 and Javid Harry – 38, propelled Fyah One to 161 for 7 from their 20 overs. Leading the bowling statistics for Richards Masters were Orlando Gabriel – 3 for 37 and Elvis Woods – 2 for 41.

Richards Masters’ response stopped at 83 all out, with Cornelius Emmons and Keithlyn Williams both taking 2 for 14.

Both matches on Saturday, which should have featured Just For the Fun versus Young Stars and Dipcon Road Warriors against Customs were rained out, with the teams sharing the points.

Five matches are carded for this weekend, with action beginning from 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, when Just For the Fun take on Alcoholics and at 3 p.m., Rising Stars meet Fyah One.

On Sunday from 10 a.m., United Two engage Richmond Hill; Rate Yo Boys Challengers meet Smart Strikers from 12:30 p.m. and from 3 p.m. Bank of SVG All Stars play Dipcon Road Warriors.(RT)
