Radcliffe cop Premier Division Cricket title
Lime Radcliffe were last Sunday crowned the 2016 National Lotteries Authority Premier Division Cricket champions, by dethroning Team Rivals, who were seeking a fifth straight lien on the title.{{more}}
Radcliffe sealed the deal at the Sion Hill Playing Field, stopping Team Rivals by 26 runs.
In a low scoring match, Radcliffe were dismissed for 119; Urnil Thomas made 21.
Radcliffeâs innings was undermined by the bowling of Casmond Walters â 6 for 67 and Deighton Butler â 2 for 13.
Team Rivalsâ batting fared worse, making 96. Othneil Lewis â 4 for 34 and Richie Richards â 3 for 26, ensured Radcliffe took first innings honours.
Batting a second time, Radcliffe, on the back of 42 from Urnel Thomas, scored 104.
Again, Casmond Walters was the lead bowler, taking 4 for 23; Asif Hooper took 2 for 15 and Olanzo Jackson â 2 for 19.
Set 128 to win, Team Rivals folded for 102; Romano Grant was 23 not out and Deighton Butler â 20.
The wily Dyke Cato bossed 4 for 20, Delorn Johnson â 3 for 22 and Othneil Lewis â 3 for 59.
It was the second time for the year that Radcliffe have copped a national cricket title.
Last March, Radcliffe upstaged Team Rivals on their way to the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 title.
Radcliffe last won the Premier Division in 2010, after having shared the title with the News Spartans the previous year.(RT)
