Guinness Street Football moves to Kingstown this weekend
This Sunday, May 15, the St Vincent Brewery Limitedâs Guinness Street Football Competition continues at the Leeward Bus Terminal in Kingstown, beginning from 2 p.m.
Initially, the Brewery announced that they would not send a team to the regional finals of the Guinness Street Football competition in St Lucia on July 1,{{more}} but they have since rescinded, and the winning local team will represent St Vincent and the Grenadines.
On Saturday, April 30, Team Crew dominated the first round of competition and as a result, earned a place in the local finals (date not yet announced). For winning, Team Crew took home EC$1,500 and five cases of Guinness Stout.
Team Crew, a dominant force in small goal soccer here, is made up of Juma Jilkes, Theon Gordon, Dwayne Dennie, Nicolai Williams, Kirk Williams, Rohan Thomas jr., Jonte James and manager Paul Farrel. They beat High Grade 3-1 in the final game on April 30. High Grade is made up of Dorian Dallaway, Brad Francis, Jerrol Stapleton, Dexter John and Javin Sutherland.
The other teams in the competition were Sparta, Jam Down and Brownstown.
After Sundayâs second round, action moves to Barrouallie in the Square on Sunday, May 22, and on to Fitz-Hughes at the Arch on Saturday, May 28.
