Exeter wins triple jump at Penn Relays
Vincentian Jumonne Exeter, representing the Saint Augustineâs University, topped the College Division menâs triple jump on the final day of the Penn Relays, which took place at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, last Saturday, April 30.{{more}}
Exeterâs winning leap was 15.59 metres, to defeat Amanze Williams of the University of Connecticut (15.45m) and another Vincentian, Richard Crick of Virginia State University (15.29m). The winning mark tied a career-high for Exeter.
In early April, Exeter won the event at the John C Smith University Invitational, with a mark of 15.1 metres. This earned him the Menâs Outdoor Track and Field âField Athlete of the Weekâ.
Exeter currently ranks second in the Central Inter-Collegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) in both the triple jump and long jump this season.
A former student of the St Vincent Grammar School, Exeter represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2014 NACAC Under-23 also in the triple jump. At that outing in Canada, he finished fifth, with a jump of 15.12 metres.
In 2015, Exeter placed second at the 2015 Barbados National Championships, with a distance of 15.27 m.
