Radcliffe master Saints in Premier Division cricket

Lime Radcliffe demolished Guardian General Saints by an innings and 30 runs in the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket programme on the weekend.{{more}}

Doing battle at the Sion Hill Playing Field, Radcliffe posted 243; Rodney Lawrence checked in with 146, in which he lashed seven fours and six sixes and Richie Richards scored 49, inclusive of two fours and two sixes.

Bowling for Saints, Sunil Ambris had 3 for 20, while his elder brother Romell Currency had 2 for 38 and Andrew Emtage, 2 for 64.

Saints’ batting experienced a massive power failure, and they were dismissed for 51.

Dyke Cato was the wrecker, taking 5 for 31, while Lindon James snared 3 for 3.

Asked to follow on, Saints’ second innings ended at 162. Zane Edwards top scored with 64. He laced 10 fours and one six, while Currency contributed 35.

Cato was again the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 4 for 74; Othniel Lewis took 3 for 24 and Delorn Johnson, 3 for 27.

And, at the Park Hill Playing Field, Team Rivals took first innings honours over Victors One in a drawn match.

Team Rivals reached 225, choosing to bat after winning the toss. Hyron Shallow hit nine fours in a knock of 61 and Dillon Douglas contributed 37.

Miles Bascombe was the pick of Victors One’s bowling, taking 5 for 25; Norlan Williams had 3 for 25.

In response, Victors One fell for 134; Donwell Hector scored 51 and Atticus Browne, 37.

Olanzo Jackson, with off 5 for 25, Deighton Butler, 2 for 9 and Casmond Walters, 2 for 26, were Team Rivals’ successful bowlers.

And, batting a second time, Team Rivals got to 194 for 7, with Roneil Jeffrey belting nine sixes and three fours in a blistering 79, while Asif Hooper’s 63, saw him hitting six fours and three sixes.

In between, Miles Bascombe had figures of 4 for 64 and Norlan Williams, 3 for 19.

The current points standings of the title contenders show Victors One on 74 points from four matches, with Team Rivals on 70 points, but from three matches.

Saints are on 46 points from two matches and Radcliffe, 44, also from two matches.

Others lodged in the division are Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO on 16 points from four matches and Police Two, eight points from two matches.

The News Spartans, having forfeited one match and lost another by default, have two points from three matches.

However, reports are that they may not be participating in the remainder of the competition.
