The institution retained both the male and female titles last Thursday at the schoolâs auditorium, with the males taking their second straight lien on the title, while the females made it three in succession. They were titles which, according to Glasgow, were ready-made, granted the compositions of the teams.
âWe have the advantage of having most of the junior and senior male national volleyballers on our team….They show up to training…. They did what they had to do and worked hard,â Glasgow said.
Some of the male players were part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines team which won the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under-18 title in St Maarten last year, while some have already tasted national senior representation in court, as well as beach volleyball tournaments.
Glasgow revealed that while her female charges were not at the level of the more seasoned players, the debutantes fitted in well and learned quickly.
Therefore, playing unbeaten throughout, en route to retention of the titles, were feats which Glasgow said was a âgreat feelingâ to her.
Facing the Girlsâ High School again in the final for the second year running, Georgetown Secondary did not let up, as they trumped 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-22).
And, the males punished the George Stephens Senior Secondary in like manner, downing the 2012, 2013 and 2014 winners also 3-0 (25- 10, 25-13, 25-8).
Before getting to the finals, the Georgetown Secondary had ousted the West St George Secondary, in both the male and female semi-finals.
The other halves of the semi-finals pitted the Girlsâ High School against the Thomas Saunders Secondary in the females and the George Stephens Secondary against the Petit Bordel Secondary in the male division.
The West St George Secondary finished third in the two divisions of the competition.
A presentation ceremony for prizes and trophies won in the competition will be convened during the first week of the third term of the school year. (RT)
