Interest growing in Clinchers Softball Cricket Competition
Interest is mounting in the 2016 St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition.
Last weekend, more was added on as Smashers, Bank of SVG All Stars and Fully Loaded Ballerz all recorded wins at the competitionâs venue â the Richland Park Oval.{{more}}
On Saturday, Smashers rode out some opposition from Rate Yo Boyz Challengers to cross the line with a five-run victory.
Batting first by choice, Smashers, after being 31 for 7, rallied to 98 all out in 12.2 overs. Anthony John got a top score of 22 and Zeran Harry contributed 21.
Bowling for Rate Yo Boyz Challengers, Joseph Stephens took 4 for 17.
At their turn, Rate Yo Boyz Challengers fell short, as they reached 97 for 7. Desron Lavia â 25 and Noel Samuel â 21 not out, led the batting, but in a losing cause.
On Sunday, Bank of SVG All Stars defeated Budgmart Simple Touch by 74 runs.
Bank of SVG All Stars got to 123 for 9 in their 20 overs, as Glenroy Dasent top scored with 25.
Elvis John was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 27 for Simple Touch.
In their run chase, Simple Touch found the going tough and were dismissed for 53 in 12.5 overs. Simple Touch was undone by the bowling of Dwaine Williams, who picked off 5 for 16.
And, Fully Loaded Ballerz had the perfect bullet-proof vests, as they thwarted Gunners by 85 runs.
Fully Loaded Ballerz, choosing to bat after winning the toss, posted 143 in 19.3 overs.
Alex Williams struck five sixes and a four in his 38, while Sunil Phillipsâ 32 contained five sixes and a two and Lasano Pompey added 24.
Danny Allenâs 5 for 24 was the best bowling figure for Gunners, who could not find the bullâs eye, and fell for 58 in 13.4 overs.
Sunil Paul, with 4 for 10 and Otis Hector â 4 for 20, crafted the win with the ball for Fully Loaded Ballerz.
Copping the player of the week award was Bank of SVG All Starsâ Dwaine Williams, for his 5 for 16 versus Simple Touch.(RT)
