Facilitator gives Grassroots Football inductees three W’s lesson
Lenny Lake, a national of St Kitts/Nevis, who facilitated a recent Grassroots Football course here, has told the participants âto wait, witness and watch.â{{more}}
Lakeâs lesson came on the last day of the three-day course, which took place at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex.
In his delivery, Lake, who made several references to the teachings of the Holy Bible, told the coaches to lean on each other, so that they could build a strong base for local football.
âJust like when you see a rope lying there, it looks lifeless, weak, but when you plait it among other twines, it becomes a strong rope, it can pull big ships,â Lake stated.
Continuing his sermonizing, Lake told the participants that when Jesus Christ said he was going to witness, he meant âworkâ.
Calling on the coaches to go out and witness and win over young footballers, Lake advised, âYour job is to get the little children to recognize that they can achieve something.â
Lake projected that once the coaches waited and watched, then it would follow that the watch would come.
âWatch means success. … It means allowing what you worked for those children, can come forth and bring forth,â Lake reasoned.
The 16 persons with whom Lake spoke directly were: Marlon St John, Clyde Robinson, James Browne, Wayde Jackson, John Hinds, Lindon Simon, Zeron Murray, Kevaun Small, Oswald Blake, Marlon Clarke, Kenrick Richards, Rohan Dickson, Kevin Lennon, Rolando Maxwell, Rolando Laidlow, Randow Joseph and Basha Awad.
This all-male bunch, which represents the smallest group of attendees of the Grassroots coaching courses, are now charged with going back into their communities and crusading for the sport of football among youngsters of both sexes.
The course was held by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation.(RT)
