Simple Boyz two from two in Clinchers Softball Competition

Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz, the defending champions of the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers 20/20 Softball Competition have made it two from two in the 2016 edition.{{more}}

Simple Boyz earned a 54-run win over Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem in Saturday’s second match at the Richland Park Oval.

Simple Boyz scored a modest 73 in 14 overs. Bowling for Nar Fren Dem Sachin James took 4 for 28.

Nar Fren Dem, fielding nine players, were dismissed for 18 off 8.3 overs.

Saturday’s other match resulted in Computec Cane End Gunners easily brushing aside neighbours Mt Pleasant Strikers by eight wickets.

Mount Pleasant Strikers were shot out for 19 in 8.2 overs, with Micha Findlay taking 3 for 3 and Kevin Primus 3 for 7.

Cane End Gunners replied with 23 for 2 in four overs.

Sunday’s triumphant teams were Dr Thomas Injectors, RSVG Police and former winners CGM Gallagher Novice.

In Sunday’s first match, Dr Thomas Injectors beat Sion Hill Tallawahs by five wickets.

Sion Hill Tallawahs got up to 76 all out, off 14.3 overs, with Nerton Lavia leading the way with 25.

Player of the weekend Damion Allen picked off 6 for 6 from 3.3 overs, proving to be Injectors’ most successful bowler.

In response, Dr Thomas Injectors were 77 for 5 in 16.2 overs; Nazie Maloney hit 25 not out. For the Tallawahs, Shamic Roberts took 3 for 18.

Next up, RSVG Police defeated Calder United by six runs.

RSVG Police notched up 114 in 17.2 overs; Roderick John top scored with 41, in which he struck two fours and five sixes.

Calder United were dismissed for 108, off 20 overs. Kevin Henry had a top score of 33.

And, Novice got past Nice Radio Clinchers by 11 runs in a high scoring affair.

Batting first, Novice posted 146 for 7 in 20 overs. Sydney Campbell hit a top score of 41, Andre Hunte – 34 and Chrisroy King – 31.

Okeiph Andrews took 3 for 25, but Clinchers’ response halted at 135 for 9 in their 20 overs.

Desron Spring scored 52, dotted with three fours and four sixes and Rajiv Roberts contributed 3. Norlan Williams took 3 for 26, bowling for Novice.

Matches this weekend see, on Saturday, Smart Strikers taking on Finishing and Furnishing KDLT Church Guys from 1 p.m. and Bank of SVG All Stars will oppose Smashers from 3 p.m.

On Sunday, Fully Loaded Ballerz will meet Mt Pleasant Strikers from 9.30 a.m. and Country meets Town Out ah Trouble take on Snipers Reload from 12.30 p.m.

In the final match on the weekend, Owia Young Strikers and Rogers Photo Studio Fya ONE square off from 3 p.m. (RT)
