Bequia United Athletics Club striding out
The Bequia United Athletics Clubâs (BUAC) venture to the recently held Grenada National Relays forms part of the organizationâs thrust to spread its wings and provide its members with opportunities to hone their track talents.{{more}}
So said an elated Ulric Gurley in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, following the clubâs maiden outing at the Grenada event, which was staged at the newly refurbished Grenada National Stadium.
âIt was a great experience being there,â Gurley said.
And Gurley was equally happy with his teamâs showing in the menâs Under-20 4x200m race, in which the quartet of McKish Compton, Orenzo Trimmingham, Javon Adams and Tevin Duncan clocked one minute 31.11 seconds.
Gurley listed the teamâs effort in the 4x400m open as another performance of note.
Buoyed by their first outing, Gurley disclosed that attendance at the Grenada National Championships in June is already a fertile thought; so too is another appearance at the Relays in 2017.
Gurley, who was part of the 12-member team, revealed that the trip was made possible through the financial input of Action Bequia, as well as other donors.
The BUAC, which has been in existence for just over a year and a half, has participated in most meets of Team Athletics SVG.
And, on its own, the BUAC has staged two invitational meets and last December 18 hosted its inaugural Bequia Relay Classic, which had participation from close ally IT- DAT Academy.(RT)
