Teams open accounts in Clinchers Softball Cricket Competition
Five teams made winning deposits in the opening weekend of the 2016 SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition at the Richland Park Playing Field.{{more}}
Those putting credit to their accounts were Sion Hill Tallawahs, Fully Loaded Ballerz, Snipers Reload, Smart Strikers and Dr Thomas Injectors.
Sion Hill Tallawahs defeated Bank of SVG All Stars by 52 runs.
Batting first, Sion Hill Tallawahs reached 119 for 8 off 20 overs, then dismissed Bank of SVG All Stars for 67 in 18 overs.
For Sion Hill, Tallawahs opener Asroy Baptiste struck eight sixes and five fours in his 82, which earned him the Player of the Week award.
When All Stars batted, Shanley Lavia took 5 for 16.
Also Fully Loaded Ballerz got the better of Street Fighters, but by a mere four runs in a keenly contested match.
Fully Loaded Ballerz made 86 in 18 overs, then restricted Street Fighters to 82 in 17.5 overs.
But for Snipers Reload, it was a more comfortable outing, as they defeated Mount Pleasant Strikers by five wickets.
Mount Pleasant Strikers scored 57 in 16.3 overs, to which Snipers Reload responded with 59 for 5 in 13.2 overs.
Meanwhile, Smart Strikers beat newcomers Rogers Photo Studio Fya ONE by 76 runs.
Smart Strikers made 123 for 7 in 20 overs, then on the back of Britnol Scottâs 6 for 5, dismissed Fya ONE for 47 in 12.2 overs.
And Dr Thomas Injectors thrashed Budgmart Simple Touch by 94 runs.
Dr Thomas Injectors scored 132 for 7 in 20 overs, with Montel John taking 4 for 19.
In reply, Simple Touch was dismissed for 37 in 13 overs; Damion Allen picked up 5 for 3.(RT)
