SVG to host Rugby WCQ opening match

The SVG Rugby Union has been chosen to host the opening match of the Rugby World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines national men’s team will play against Jamaica on Saturday, March 5, 2016, inside the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex.{{more}}

“As this is the opening match, World Rugby will be sending a film crew and VIPs from World Rugby, as well as placing the World Cup ‘William Webb Ellis Cup’ pitch-side. Famous rugby referee Nigel Owens has been confirmed as being the referee for the match,” a release from the SVG Ruby Union said.

“This is an excellent opportunity for not only the Rugby Union, but for the whole of St Vincent and the Grenadines, as this event is due to be very high-profile globally.”
