The 2014 champion, however, had to fight off the Layou Government in the semi-finals, trumping them 2-1, thanks to a last minute winner from Kirtney Francis.

Before that, Curtis Samuel had put the Kingstown Prep in the ascendancy in the 10th minute of play, but his item was cancelled out by Oryan Velox, two minutes later.

It was Samuel who had put KPS into the semi- finals, as his lone goal in the quarter-final separated his team from the Bequia Anglican.

Lodge Village’s journey to the final saw them drawing goalless with the St Mary’s Roman Catholic. At the kicks from the penalty spot, Lodge Village came out 2-1 winners.

Coming up against the Cane End Government in the semi-finals, Lodge Village ran out 4-1 winners, to set up a final meeting with the Kingstown Preparatory.

Prior to the final, Layou Government and the Cane End Government will face off in the third place play-off.

This will give Layou’s Oryan Velox an opportunity to go ahead of the St Mary’s RC’s David Holder, as they are tied on six goals each.(RT)
