North East win Masters’ Cricket derby

North East defeated Park Hill United by 91 runs in a community derby last Saturday, as both battled on familiar territory – the Park Hill Playing Field, as the SVG Masters Cricket Competition saw limited action last weekend.{{more}}

North East, on the back of Deighton Butler’s 54, Arnold Gilkes – 27 and Winsbert Springer – 25, totalled 169 for 3 off 20 overs.

In reply, Park Hill United were 78 all out off 17.4 overs; Oscar Ryan hit 20. Deighton Butler collected 3 for 15 and Jerry Matthias – 2 for 18.

At Arnos Vale One, Sion Hill whipped Belfongo by 51 runs.

Sion Hill scored 141 all out off 19.3 overs, with Sylvester Vanloo stroking 39, Ronald Medford – 32 and Colbert McDonald – 27.

Bowling for Belfongo, Rohan King picked off 3 for 15 and Sylvanus Morgan – 3 for 16.

Belfongo’s response saw them only making 90 for 7 off 20 overs; Wendell Glasgow stroked 40.

And on Sunday, St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani condemned Park Hill United by 108 runs.

Batting first, Ptani posted 198 all out off 20 overs. The main contributors were Jerome Samuel – 56, Westmore Campbell – 44 and Isaac Haywood – 36.

Park Hill United’s reply stopped at 80 for 9 off 20 overs; Don McMillan hit a topscore of 21, as Elvis Woods snared 3 for 11.

Reports say that the two games at Arnos Vale One and one game at Arnos Vale Two on Sunday were abandoned due to wet pitches.(RT)
