New champion in line for North Leeward Cricket Competition

A new champion will be crowned when the final of the 2015 Vinlec North Leeward T/20 Cricket Competition is staged this Sunday, October 18.{{more}}

This, after defending champions RSVG Police lost when it mattered most, going under to Circumstance last Sunday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

Circumstance scored 162 for 6 off 15 overs, as the match was reduced because of damp conditions. Rickford Walker stroked 64 and Jerron John, 50 not out.

Bowling for the lawmen, Jadi John took 2 for 12 and Sylvan Spencer, 2 for 17.

In reply, RSVG Police could only make 142 for 6 from their 15 overs. Salvan Browne – 30, Selrick Cain – 29 not out and Sylvan Spencer – 25, were the main contributors, as Casmond Walters picked up 4 for 18 and Hank Hall 2 for 36.

The 20-run win by Circumstance put them into the semi-finals, where they are set to meet Robertson’s Survey’s Future Legends from 12:30 p.m. this Saturday.

Batting first, Future Legends made 159 all out off 14.4 overs. Rajiv Roberts top scored with 37.

Christopher Howe snared 3 for 31, Desroy Samuel 2 for 33, Rellon Mc Kie 2 for 32 and Husani Porter 2 for 30, bowling for Sharps United.

Rajiv Roberts then grabbed 3 for 27, Shangi John – 2 for 10 and Amansford Roberts – 2 for 18, combining to dismiss Sharps United for 84 in 11.3 overs.

But already assured of a place in the final are North Stars, who, after ousting Carlos James Starlight, beat Coulls Hill Rangers in the quarter-finals.

North Stars won from Troumaca Starlight by 19 runs on a faster scoring rate

North Stars posted 206 for 4 off 20 overs, with Kenneth Forbes making 47, Atticus Browne – 42, Elron Lewis – 34 and Denis Byam – 32.

Phillip Anthony took 2 for 34, bowling for Starlight.

At their turn, Starlight had reached 167 for 6 off 18 completed overs, when bad light ended play. At that point, Starlight needed to be 186.

Ronique Samuel – 47, Kishnel John – 41 not out and Donald Delpesche – 33, batted in a losing cause for Starlight, as Javon Samuel had figures of 2 for 12, bowling for North Stars.

Meeting Coulls Hill Rangers in the quarter-finals, North Stars made 116 for 4 off 13 overs, as the match was reduced because rain. Lindon James hit 41 and Gidron Pope, 32.

Coulls Hill Rangers in reply were 114 for 7 off 13 overs; Peter Morris made 33.

Lindon James took 2 for 15 and Rodney Lawrence, 2 for 16, bowling for North Stars.

Sunday’s final is carded to bowl off at 12:30 p.m.(RT)
