Zefal Bailey back on top

Enduring several losses in a row, the 2014 cyclist of the year, Zefal Bailey, last Sunday returned to the top of the pile, winning the 40-mile keep-fit event.{{more}}

Devoid of the usual field, Bailey took charge in the race, which took cyclists from Colonarie to Georgetown then to Sans Souci and back to Colonarie four times, in a time of one hour 46 minutes 27 seconds.

Randy Wilkinson was second, in one hour 46 minutes 40 seconds and third was Orel George in one hour 57 minutes 09 seconds.

In the junior category, Bradley Charles placed first, in one hour 26 minutes 38 seconds. Docking in second was Quasim Thomas, in one hour 26 minutes 50 seconds and third – Casnel Duncan, in one hour 39 minutes 15 seconds.

The junior cyclists did three laps of the course, which amounted to 30 miles.

The next event on the calendar of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union is set for Sunday, September 27.(RT)
