Affiliate calls for postponement of SVGFF’s elections, general meeting

At least one affiliate, Keith Duncan, the head man of Dove FC, has called on the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation to relook at its proposed general meeting, which includes the much anticipated election of officers.{{more}}

He refered to 10.3, under article X of the SVGFF’s constitution, which states: “The General Secretary shall give at least twenty-one (21) clear days notice in writing to all Officers, Members of the General Council, and other Members informing them of the date, time and venue of such meeting. He/she shall at the same time provide such persons and members with a printed abstract of the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting, the General Council’s Annual Report, the Audited Financial Statement and Balance Sheet, the Agenda specifying the business to be transacted at the Meeting….”

Duncan noted that the aforementioned section of the constitution did not concur with the release sent to affiliates on September 5.

Duncan also took issue with the format/agenda of the September 26 meeting, which contravenes 10.8 of the SVGFF’S constitution.

The constitution lists in order Roll Call; Confirmation of Minutes; Presentation of Executive Summary; Presentation of Financial Statement and Audited Balance Sheet for the year just ended; Election of Officers (as necessary); and Any Other Business of which due notice has been given.

However, the notice sent by Devron Poyer, the acting general secretary, reads: “The following items are on the Agenda:

1. President’s Report. 2. Auditor’s report, 3. Election of Officers, 4. Any Other Business”.

Granted what has transpired within the recent days, Duncan commented, “I have stated on the record that I have lost confidence in the current executive’s ability to manage the affairs of our beloved sport…. The continuous ignoring of protocol as it relates to executive decision making is quite startling. While I am personally eager to see the general election materialize…, I believe we have to stick to explicitly outlined procedures in Article 10.3 of the current constitution. As such, none of the mandatory documentation was sent by the secretariat to affiliates with the notice of the General Meeting.”

Duncan therefore recommended, “ I advise that the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation take the following actions: Cancel with immediate effect the proposed Annual General Meeting scheduled for Saturday, 26th September, 2015…. Adhere to Article 10.3 of the current constitution and provide ALL of the stipulated documentation within the body of the UPDATED notice for an Annual General Meeting… Present and publish (via electoral and print media) the FINAL voter list of eligible voters for the upcoming election.”
