The biggest wish of Williams, now in her seventh and final year in the sub-regional, is for her team to capture the title for a 15th time.
âIt is my last year and I want us to win the title for the 15th time,â she told SEARCHLIGHT.
Williams expressed confidence in her teammates whom she said are relatively inexperienced, but who have the willingness to give of their best.
âSome of the more experienced players have passed the age, but we will be going out there and do our best… we have trained very hard,â Williams stated.
Apart from Williams, the rest of the team are: vice-captain Shanice Daniel, Khadija Williams, Cacica Cordice, Kay-Shorn Lowmans, Nerissa Delpesche, Shantal Rouse, Jo Maria Quashie, Zanelle James, Dilonie Sam and Merlene Charles.
The team is being managed by Diane Questelles, with coach Natasha Stapleton and umpire/primary care person Moeth Gaymes.
In the quest for its 15th lien on the championships, St Vincent and the Grenadines open their campaign on Saturday versus Dominica and face the host on Sunday.
The Vincentians engage Montserrat Monday morning and return in the evening to battle Grenada.
A meeting with defending champions and five-time winners St Lucia on the final night, Wednesday, shuts down the championships.
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-23 netball teamâs list of titles commenced here on home soil in 1991 and continued until 1994. Then titles in 1996, 1998 to 2002, 2006 and 2007, as well as back-to-back victories in 2012 and 2013 added on.
Their winnings stand second to the St Lucia male volleyball team, as the most triumphs at the OECS level.(RT)
