Bagga Softball Cricket competition picks up speed

The 2015 Hairoun Beer Bagga T-20 Softball Cricket Competition picked up momentum last weekend at the Keartons Playing Field, as organizers maxed out by ordering six matches.{{more}}

On Saturday, powerhouse Suprizers made light work of Buccament, winning by eight wickets. Buccament, sent in, was reduced to 49 for 7 in their 15 overs, as the total number of innings was reduced.

Elton Campbell top scored with 18.

Handel Browne picked up 3 for 5, to lead Suprizers’ bowling, who then took 6.3 overs to erase the target. Roy Richards struck 19 in the successful run chase.

Also on Saturday, another home team, Topsidaz, bounced back from defeat in their last outing to stop ECWI Spring Ministries by 28 runs.

Topsidaz posted 103 for 8 in 20 overs; Leevan Richardson made 25 and Sebastian Forde – 22.

In response, ECWI Spring was bowled out for 75, as Leevan Richardson snared 4 for 8.

Sunday’s matches saw Keartons, RSVG Police, Glen United and Prisons coming away with wins. Valley Boys were sent packing for 64, undone by the bowling of Cuthbert Ashton, who grabbed 4 for 19.

Kendall Keil, with 25, sealed the six- wicket win for Keartons.

But RSVG Police were made to fight off Hillview, but prevailed by three wickets.

Hillview assembled 101, with Devon Dickson hitting 22. Bowling for RSVG Police, Osrick James took 3 for 15.

Reinforced by the batting of Saleeme George – 29 and Renrick Cato – 21, Police crossed the line at 107 for 7 in 16 overs.

Glen United then had it all their way, beating Campden Park Strikers by 85 runs.

Glen United chalked up 126 for 9 in their 20 overs. Lesroy Baptiste, with 23, was the principal scorer.

Tyron Bowens and Kyron Parris took 3 for 23 and 3 for 34 respectively.

Campden Park could only make 41, as Julius London landed figures of 3 for 1.

And, Prisons locked away KLM Men by six wickets.

KLM made 69, dismissed in 14.5 overs, but Okeiph Andrews rushed to 50, to end the contest in a jiffy, as his team used up 9.1 overs.

Another set of matches will be played this weekend at the same venue.(RT)
