Saints march into National Twenty/20 Cricket semi-finals

Guardian General Saints made it six out of six last weekend, chalking up another two wins in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Marching into the semifinals, Saints defeated Rivals Two by 92 runs and squeezed the juice out of LIME Radcliffe, beating them by nine wickets.

Saints, led by their consistent Rickford Walker – 67 and Rolando Wright – 50 not out, posted 186 for 4.

Bowling for Radcliffe, Dominic Da Silva took 2 for 24 and Antonio Barker 2 for 38. Rivals Two were sent packing for 94, with Teran Simon grabbing 4 for 18 and Andrew Entage 2 for 3.

Batting first, Lime Radcliffe were shot out for 87. Rodney Lawrence hit 31 not out and Gidron Pope 25.

Nesron Samuel had figures of 2 for 9, bowling for Saints, who then replied with 91 for 1.

Zane Edwards, 52 not out and Rickford Walker, 30 not out, crafted the reply.

Also, making it two in two on the weekend was Police Two.

Police Two defeated Victors Two by three wickets. Victors Two put together a decent 171 for 5; Kirton Lavia made 72, Denis Byam, 40, and Dawnley Grant, 36. Gerald Gould was Police Two’s most successful bowler, taking 2 for 18.

Police Two, through the batting efforts of Mc Leon Williams – 49, Gosnel Cupid – 27 and Donson Andrews – 23, responded with 172 for 7.

Denis Byam snapped up 2 for 39 and Kishore Shallow 2 for 43, bowling for Victors Two.

But it was an easier task for Police Two, winning by 10 wickets over Buccament Bay Androids.

Batting first, Buccament Bay Androids were dismissed for 82. Ashley Cordice top scored with 29.

Romario Bibby clawed 4 for 14 and Elmore Alexander 3 for 10.

Police Two replied with 83 without loss; Mc leon Williams made 39 not out and Donson Andrews, 36 not out.

And, Smashers saw off Radcliffe Too by four wickets

Radcliffe Too compiled 144 for 8, led by Shorn Browne’s 50, Collveen King – 30 and Kensley Joseph – 27.

Bowling for Smashers, Marvin Harry collected 3 for 25.

Smashers 149 for 6, in reply. Rawdon Bentick smashed 76 and Ozico Williams 30.

In between, Kenson Joyette took 2 for 17 and Daniel McMillan 2 for 22.

Another set of matches will be played this weekend.(RT)
