Quartet stay unbeaten in National Twenty/20 Cricket Competition

Defending champions Team Rivals, along with Victors One, LIME Radcliffe and Guardian General Saints remained the unbeaten teams, after the second weekend of matches in the 2015 National Twenty/20 Cricket Competition concluded last Sunday.{{more}}

Team Rivals outplayed Police One by nine wickets. Police One made 61; Vertil Davis hit a top score of 23. Casmond Walters picked up 4 for 7 and Olanzo Jackson – 3 for 5.

Team Rivals replied with 62 for 1. Marvin Small – 29 was not out.

But it was a closer margin of triumph for Victors One, who defeated Combine Youths by 12 runs.

Victors One posted 154 for 6, with Donwell Hector and Atticus Browne both making 34, Christroy John – 28 and Shaquille Browne – 20.

Marlon Farrell was the pick of Combined Youths’ bowling, taking 3 for 6; but his team, in reply, fell for 142.

Oneil Endeavour – 34, Nickie Antoine – 25 and Marlon Farrell – 20, could not take their team over the line, as Alex Jessop grabbed 3 for 14 and Shaquille Browne 3 for 25, bowling for Victors One.

Likewise, Radcliffe extended their unstopped record with an uncomplicated 84-run win over Buccament Bay Androids.

Radcliffe batted first and scored 156 for 6; Rodney Lawrence – 82 not out and Richie Richards – 26, were the main contributors.

Wesley Simmons took 2 for 30, bowling for Androids, who were dismissed for 62.

Richie Richards – 3 for 1, Wesrick Strough, 2 for 14, and Dyke Cato 2 for 18, provided the wickets for Radcliffe.

Also, Saints overcame Triumph United by six wickets.

Triumph United could only muster 63. Shammon Hooper top scored with 27.

Bowling for Saints, Andrew Emtage had 3 for 10 and Damaul Phillips 2 for 3.

Saints then got to 64 for 4; Jeron John made 31.

In between, Winston Samuel had 2 for 5 and Travis Cumberbatch 2 for 10, bowling for Triumph United.

But Triumph United redeemed themselves in their other match, taking revenge on Victors Two by five wickets.

Victors Two scored 85 for 9; Kirton Lavia made 24. Winston Samuel had 4 for 7 and Shammon Hooper – 3 for 16, bowling for Triumph United, who reached 85 for 5.

Leading Triumph United’s batting was Maxwell Edwards, who struck 22.

Denson Hoyte picked off 3 for 6, bowling for Victors Two.

Other winners on Sunday were Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO, Rivals Two and Police Two.

Chambers ASCO defeated Smashers by five wickets.

Smashers, on the back of 54 from Raydon Bentick, posted 151.

Roger Gibson, 4 for 27, Deron Greaves, 2 for 10 and Darius Martin, 2 for 13, collected the bulk of the wickets for ASCO, whose response was 152 for 5.

Their total saw Deron Greaves striking 49, Desron Maloney – 48 and Kelshun Da Silva – 26 not out. Marvin Harry had 2 for 22, in a losing cause for Smashers.

Rivals Two after defeating Buccament Bay Androids fell to Police Two.

Facing Androids, Rivals Two tallied 145 for 6, led by William Edwards’ 59 not out.

Wesley Simmons had figures of 2 for 15, bowling for Androids, who fell short by 10 runs in their run chase.

Androids finished on 135 for 6 from their 20 overs; Renrick Quashie made 56 not out.

Then Police Two humbled Rivals Two by 109 runs.

Police Two, after making 162 for 7, dismissed Rivals Two for 53.

In the lawmen’s innings, Danson Andrews top scored with 48, while William Edwards had 2 for 13 and Kadier Nedd, 2 for 26.

The destroyers for Rivals Two’ s batting were Elmore Alexander, 3 for 4, Mohammed Lavia, 2 for 1, and Kenneth Dember, 2 for 22. (RT)
