Simple Boys and Out Ah Trouble meet in Biabou Softball final

Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys and Country Meets Town Out Ah Trouble Family Attackers have progressed to the final of the Biabou Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

The final is set for this Sunday afternoon, from 2 p.m., at the Biabou Playing Field.

The two finalists reached Sunday’s decider with convincing wins last Sunday.

Simple Boys side-stepped Ravers by 123 runs and Out Ah Trouble recorded a 28-run win at the expense of Smashers of Lauders.

Simple Boys reached 138 for 9 in 15 overs; Jabari Cunningham scored 39, Casmond Walters and Elton Williams – 23.

Zimron Thomas had 2 for 14; Hanell Neptune – 2 for 17; and Renrick Davis – 2 for 24, bowling for Ravers.

But the former champions were shot out for 25 in just 5.5 overs, as Eldon Morris bagged 5 for 13 and Travis Cumbertbatch 4 for 12.

Out ah Trouble Family Attackers scored 163 for 5 in 20 overs, with Richie Richards making 52, Wesrick Straugh – 41 and Rodney Lawrence 21.

Bowling for Smashers of Lauders, Keniel Richards had 2 for 34.

Smashers in reply were 125 all out in 15.1overs; Zeron Harry made 39 and Luke Thomas 21.

Wesrick Straugh snapped up 3 for 5 and Danny Allen snared 3 for 30.

Before last Sunday’s two semi-finals, the two remaining quarter-final matches were played on Saturday, earning Simple Boys and Smashers of Lauders berths in the last four.

Simple Boys defeated Simon Warriors by eight wickets and Smashers of Lauders had a seven-wicket triumph over Nar Fren Dem.

Batting first, Simon Warriors reached 64 for 6 in their 15 overs. Ceon Padmore top scored with 27.

Bowling for Simple Boys, Elric Morris took 3 for 15 and Eldon Morris 2 for 8.

In response, Simple Boys rushed to 67 for 2 in 4.5 overs; Casmond Walters made 25 and Jabari Cunningham 21.

And, Nar Fren Dem got to 47 all out in 15.4 overs, undone by the bowling of Glenford Woodley – 3 for 15 and Linton Peters – 2 for 11.

Smashers of Lauders scored 53 for 3 in 5.4 overs. (RT)
