Simple Boys shielding in TBPO Softball Competition

Reigning champions of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation T-20 Softball Cricket Competition Simple Boys continued the defence of their title last Sunday, sedating Dr Thomas Injectors.{{more}}

Simple Boys batted first at the Dauphine Playing Field and compiled 139 all out; Elric Morris hit 46 and Stein Joseph – 36.

Bowling for Injectors, Tex Franklyn picked up 3 for 42; Damien Allen – 2 for 6 and Quesnel Cottoy – 2 for 39.

In response, Injectors were dismissed for 74, undone by the bowling of Elric Morris, who grabbed 4 for 8 and Kenny Hunte – 2 for 12, as Simple Boys won by 65 runs.

Other wins on the weekend were attained by Smashers, Nar Fren Dem, Gomea Bombers and Premium Boys.

Smashers defeated Mc Lil Saints by 52 runs.

Batting first, Smashers posted 125 all out in 14.3 overs; Delano Woodley top scored with 38.

Bowling for Mac Little Saints, Amos Clarke took 3 for 8, Jason Jackson 3 for 36 and Kezron had Ashton 2 for 19.

In their run chase, Mac Lil Saints were 52 all out in 14 overs, as St Clair Dickson took 4 for 14, Keneal Richards 2 for 6 and Travis Peters 2 for 10, to see their team home high and dry.

Meanwhile, Nar Fren Dem overcame Winter Boys by six runs.

Nar Fren Dem made 108 all out in 19.4 overs, with Damron Prince making 21 and Kenford Collins and Ceon Phillips 19 each.

Winters Boys’ successful bowlers were Jason Barbour, who took 4 for 7, Evansley Payne, 2 for 17 and Kevin Mc Kie, 2 for 26.

In reply Winter Boys were stifled and reached 102 for 8 in their 20 overs, led by Jason Barbour, who made 37 and Evansley Payne 27.

Sachin James took 3 for 22 and Clinton Woods 2 for 7, to be the most successful bowlers for Nar Fren Dem.

Also, Gomea Bombers had it all their way against Smart Strikers, beating them by eight wickets.

Smart Strikers were sent packing for 57, as Noel Carr , Raymond Sayers and Ovando O’Brien took two wickets apiece for 7, 9 and 10 runs respectively.

O’Brien, 23 not out, led Gomea Bombers to 58 for 2. Damaul Philips took both wickets, which fell for the cost of 16 runs.

And, Premium Boys made light work of Older Boys, trumping by 10 wickets.

Older Boys could only make 80 for 9 from their maximum 20 overs, as Javon Nero – 3 for 7 and Julius London – 2 for 14, were responsible for most of the wickets which fell.

Then, Michael Duncan struck 44 not out and Emmanuel Baptiste contributed 25 not out, as Premium Boys replied with 85 without loss.(RT)
