All Stars, in the process, debited the assets of General Hardware Richmond Hill United by 11 runs last Sunday afternoon at the Grammar School Playing Field.

It was All Stars’ second softball title in seven months, as they champed the Biabou competition last December.

All Stars, a growing force in local softball here, batted first and were dismissed for 108 in 19.3 overs.

Only Newborne Joseph 29 and Asquith Mapp 27, displayed any permanence as their team-mates played some rash shots, thus causing their demise.

Bowling for Richmond Hill, Justin Lee helped himself to 4 for 9 and Elroy Cumberbatch snared 2 for 33.

But the pumped Richmond Hill had their aspirations meet foreclosure, as they responded with 97 all out in 19.1 overs.

Rohan Ash top scored with 32, before he was needlessly run out and Peter Olliver chipped in with 14. Dennis Grant was the pick of the All Stars bowling, taking 4 for 25 and Newborne Joseph took 2 for 12.

The third place play-off, which preceded the final, resulted in a triumph for Just For the Fun over Buccament Bay. Okeiph Andrews cracked 51 and Dwayne Williams – 38, as Just For the Fun posted 156 for 8 from the maximum 20 overs.

Marcus Mc Coy had 3 for 18 and Rawle Stapleton 2 for 36, bowling for Buccament, whose response ended at 114 all out. Conroy Jack was Buccament’s lead batsman with 34.

Javan Nero had 2 for 6 and Okeiph Andrews 2 for 26, bowling for Just For the Fun.

Elroy Cumberbatch of Richmond Hill was the top wicket taker, with 22 scalps and Okeiph Andrews – the top run scorer, as he tallied 144 runs in the competition.

For winning the top place, All Stars pocketed $700 and the Blondie Bird and Friends mas band trophy, while Richmond Hill collected $450 and the second place trophy.

Just For the Fun earned themselves $250 and a trophy.(RT)
