While Pope, a left-handed opener is into his third year as a member of the team, the others are making their debut.

Latchman, a wicket– keeper batsman who captained the St Vincent and the Grenadines team in this year’s Windward Islands competition, however, has represented the Windwards at both the Under-15 and Under-17 levels.

Meanwhile, Hooper, a left–handed middle order batsman, was a reserve selection to the Windwards Under-15 team in 2009.

The four Vincentians were selected following the conclusion of the Windwards Islands competition which ended here in St Vincent and the Grenadines last Friday.

The team will be captained by Grenadian Ronald Cato, with Dominican Kershakie Jno Lewis as vice-captain.

The rest of the team is Deron Hypolite, Ryan John, Sherman Lewis, Melvin Gordon and Craig Phillips – Grenada, along with Khamarl Hamilton – Dominica and the St Lucia pair of Dornan Edwards and Tonius Simon.

Four reserves in Romano Pierre – St Vincent and the Grenadines; Kevil Charles – Grenada, Josiah Hilton – Dominica and Shadrack Descartes – St Lucia have also been named.

The regional tournament will see a three-day format, to be followed by a one-day 50-over competition.

The Windwards will be looking to relive the achievements of 2000, when the four-island grouping pouched the regional Under-19 threeday competition for the first time.

But it was a 10-year wait, as the next came in 2010, when the tournament was staged in St Lucia.

The Windwards’ lone hold on the 50-over competition was in 2012, when Barbados hosted the tournament.(RT)
