The medal count comprised two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Accounting for the two gold medals was Kineke Alexander, who repeated her take of the 200m and 400m.

Alexander clocked 22.97 seconds in the 200m and 52.47 seconds in the 400m.

One of the silver medals was pouched by Linda Mc Dowall, who timed 4 minutes 56.75 seconds in the women’s 1,500m.

The other silver medal collected by the Vincentian contingent was achieved by the combination of Courtney Bascombe, Courtney Williams, Shimorie Shearman and Josh Hamilton in the men’s 4 x 100m relay. The time recorded by the quartet was 41.64 seconds.

The team’s three bronze medals were claimed in the men’s 1,500m, and the men’s 4 x 400m and the women’s 4 x 100m.

Debutant at national representation Mikele Culzac clocked 4 minutes 15.53 seconds to finish third in the men’s 1,500m.

In the men’s 4 x 400m, Keron Arthur, Shimorie Shearman, Kasique Oliver and Brandon Parris placed third in a time of 3 minutes 13.34 seconds.

Meanwhile, the combined efforts of Kineke Alexander, Soreyna Miler, Shantal Rouse and Kerina Hooper landed third in the women’s 4 x 400m, timing 48.96 seconds.

The case was different in Morelia, Mexico at the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships, also held last weekend.

Four athletes – Reuberth Boyde, Reberto Boyde, Akani Slater and Mc Kish Compton failed to pouch any medal.

The Vincentians’ best showing was in the 100m men’s Under-20, when Reuberth Boyde placed eighth in the final.

Reuberth clocked 10.78 seconds, which was the identical time recorded in the heats, which qualified him for the final.

Reuberth’s twin brother- Reberto did 10.93 seconds in his heat, which was insufficient to get him any further.

In the 200m preliminaries, the Reberto clocked 22.64 and Reuberth – 22.68 seconds, which were too slow for progress into the next round.

Likewise, Compton’s 11 seconds recording in the men’s Under – 18 100m could not find him a place in the final.

And, Slater finished seventh in the 800m for men at the Under-18 category. Slater’s time was 2 minutes 04.24 seconds.(RT)
