Jackson arrests Police with century, 8-wicket haul

Orlanzo Jackson put himself in line for yet another year in succession to take the top all-rounder prize in the RBTT Premier Division, when he hit a century and bagged an eight wicket match haul, to lead MVC Rivals to full points over Police Two.{{more}}

Jackson spanked four 4’s and three 6’s, in his 101 not out, to shepherd his team to 225 for 6 declared. Roland Wilkinson supported with 44.

Gerald Gould took all six wickets for forty nine runs. In reply, Police One, who batted with three players short, were dismissed for 77. Oneil Thomas topscored with 35, with Jackson taking 4 for 21 and Wilkinson 2 for 24.

Batting a second time, Police One reached 109, to lose by an innings and 39 runs. Marlon France made 44, with Jackson again among the wickets with 4 for 32, and Casmond Walters, 3 for 38.

Police Two, though, got first innings points from ECGC Radcliffe. Joe Floyd John, 41, and Delroy Johnson, 35, were the principal scorers, as Radcliffe made 170. Calvin Glasgow, 4 for 20, and Othneil Baptiste, 2 for 20, shared the bowling honours.

The law officers responded with 179, with Salvan Browne hitting 63, and Kyron Caesar, 30. Drumo Toney, 4 for 31, Mahlon John, 3 for 67, and Hezron Lawrence, 2 for 56, were the successful bowlers for Radcliffe.

At the close Radcliffe were 97 for 3, with Kevin Jessop helping himself with 49, and Johnson, 35. Glasgow took 3 for 29.

Likewise, the News Spartans took first innings from Irie Travel Packers.

Nixon Mc Lean struck 88, and Dawnley Grant, 45, as Spartans, responding to Packers’ 207, reached 225. Reginald Jeffery, 5 for 50, and Orlando Millington, 3 for 63, bowling for Packers. Ian Bushay, 51, Jeffery, 44, and Hansel Hooper were the mainstay in Packers’ first innings, which saw T’ron Simon snatch 4 for 36, Mc Lean, 3 for 38, and Kishorn George, 2 for 22.

Packers were 82 for 6 at the close. Bushay was again among the runs with 40. Simon took 3 for 33, and the Dawnley Joseph, 2 for 14.

In the Bottlers First Division, Smashers and CLICO A’Level College battled to an exciting draw.

A’Level College were 76 for 9 when play ended, needing another four runs for maximum points, and Smashers one wicket away from achieving the same.

Smashers made 86, with Nikron Mercury topscoring with 24. Morrison Matthew took 4 for 23. A’Level College closed at 70. Keswerth Lewis, 5 for 18, Marvin Harry, 2 for 13, and Konnard Adams, 2 for 23.

At their second turn at the crease, Smashers were dismissed for 63. Handell Prince, 4 for 19, and Kevin Small, 3 for 14, to set up the last wicket drama.

The other scheduled match saw Digicel Neil Williams Academy winning by default from Unique Warriors. (RT)
