Winners declared in Rick Nick’s CafО Invitational Open Squash Tournament

The three titles which were at stake in the Rick Nick’s Cafe invitational Open Squash Tournament were determined last Friday evening, when the last point was achieved at the National Squash Centre, located in Paul’s Avenue.

Kevin Hannaway was the last man standing in the senior male category.

Hannaway saw off Jules Snagg 11-7, 13-15, 11-8, 12-10 in the final, to earn himself a cellular phone and a case of drinks.

Taking the junior segment was Kai Bentick, who was unbeaten in his matches, as that division was on a round robin basis.

Kai Bentick stopped Geronimo Ross 11-1, 11-3, 11- 5 and defeated Mikal Quashie 11-5, 11-5, 11-7. Bentick did not sweat in his other intended match, as Jada Ross withdrew when they were set to meet.

Like Hannaway, Kai Bentick pocketed a cellular phone and a case of beverages.

The other title was pouched by James Bentick, who copped the veterans’ bracket.

But Bentick’s opponent in the final, Paul Cyrus, did not show up for the championship match.

James Bentick’s prize was a $200 gift voucher and a case of beverages, while Cyrus will pick up a gift hamper and case of beverages.

Also earning a case of beverages for their efforts were Mikal Quashie, Geronimo Ross, Jules Snagg, Othneil Bailey and Telbert Samuel.

Apart from Rick Nick’s Cafe, the St Vincent Brewery, Flow, CK Greaves, Coreas Hazells, Multi Graphics and the SVG Squash Association all contributed in making the tournament which ran from January 17 to 20, a success.(RT)
