UWI Global Campus launches annual Literary Fair and Performing Arts Festival
The 7th annual Literary Fair and Performing Arts Festival opened yesterday, Monday, May 9, 2026 at The University of the West Indies Global Campus.
Organised by the Global Campus alongside the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers Inc., the National Public Library, and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Creative Industries, the festival, under the theme: ‘Echoes of Our Heritage: Roots, Rhythm And Reels’, will run until Thursday, March 11, 2026.
In a release, the SVG Global Campus said the literary fair on March 10-11, 2026 will include a book, craft, and visual art exhibition, featuring several works by local authors and artists, and Vincentians.
Another main highlight is the ‘Evening of the Arts’ scheduled for today,Tuesday, March 11, 2026 from 6:30 p.m at The Global Campus, Kingstown. A two-day book launch and book signing featuring three prolific local writers and one Vincentian based in the diaspora will also be held from March 10-11 from 4:30 p.m daily.
The festival will also provide an opportunity for children and young people to view a children’s literary exhibit, perform in a talent showcase, and read samples of their stories and poetry on Wednesday, March 1, 2026 starting at 10:00 a.m., the release stated.
The three-day event forms part of the celebrations during National Heroes and Heritage Month; and seeks to encourage Vincentians to cultivate the discipline of reading a wide variety of literature to enhance their literary skills and broaden their perspectives on the human experiences. The UWI Global Campus said as well that the fair also offers an opportunity to showcase Vincentian talent in the literary, craft, visual and performing art. Those actively involved in the entertainment packages will be performers who attended CARIFESTA XV held in 2025 in Barbados. The general public is invited to attend the activities.
