Art Making At The Youlou Art Centre during these challenging days of Covid -19
Youlou Arts Centre, now at Indian Bay, has embarked on several initiatives to encourage the public to relax and seek comfort in these challenging times.
To help ease these anxiety provoking times the Youlou Art Centre has created art classes and events to help the public cope.
There is the Saturday morning art class titled “Hello Art”, which resumed May 30. This visual arts class is for children ages 5 to 12, which runs from 10 am to 12 noon.
Another children’s art programme is the “Growing Young SVG Artists”. This programme is now in its 20th year. This two-week programme starts Monday July 20 and ends Friday, July 31. It is for children age 5 to 12.
For adults, the Centre is organizing a late afternoon art class. Classes will start Wednesday, July 8. This is a six-week visual arts programme for adults. Classes will start at 4:30pm.
Current events at the Youlou Art Centre are the final days of the “Lush SVG” show. This show will end July 20.
Currently the accounting firm KPMG has a collection of paintings, which it acquired from the Triton Capital Bank.
This collection is on view at the Youlou Art Centre until the end of June. Bids on the collection can be placed at the office of KPMG.
August 15 is the opening reception of the “Vincy Woman 2020” Art show. Be sure to save the date as the Centre shines a light on the women artists in SVG.
The gift shop at the Centre has beautifully made local crafts for the whole family.
Youlou Art Centre invites the public to join in the activities.
The Centre is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.
