Ministry of Education impressed with first writing fair hosted by IHS
The first annual writing fair of the Intermediate High School (IHS), which was held earlier this month, has been deemed a success.
The fair was organized by the Modern Languages and Arts Department at the school under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum Unit.
According to a release from the IHS, the main aim of the fair was to use the writing process to produce and showcase creatively written pieces from students at all levels in the school.
Forms one and two focused on descriptive writing, the form three students focused on expository writing, while the fourth and fifth formers focused on persuasive writing.
“The Literacy room was filled with a display of students’ writing. Ministry officials and students from all classes viewed the pieces. Further, the writers were interviewed by the ministry officials. The writers were able to eloquently read and explain their pieces,” said the IHS release.
It added that ministry officials deemed the activity a success and were impressed with the work that both the teachers and students invested in the fair.
The department is already making preparations for the next academic year 2020/2021.
