Criminals not welcomed, will be tracked – PM Mottley
Criminals attempting to move between the four Caribbean Community (Caricom) countries that from this month began allowing the unrestricted movement of their nationals among each other, are being warned that there are mechanisms in place to detect their movements and activities.
On October, 1, 2025 an initiative that allows the free movement of nationals between St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Barbados, Dominica, and Belize came into effect.
As a result, nationals of these countries now have the right to enter, leave and re-enter, move freely, reside, work, and remain indefinitely in these states without the need for work or residency permits.
In a national address last week to Barbadians outlining what they should expect, and responding to fears, Prime Minister Mia Mottley, said that some people may be asking, “will we be safe?” and her answer is “yes”, as the law and the systems are clear.
