Choppins man pleads not guilty to three counts of theft
A man from Choppins was bonded and ordered to pay compensation for stealing one battery pack, a charger and adapter from a man, while he was sleeping at a hospital.
Romel Williams appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie, on October, 8, 2025 where he pleaded not guilty that on September 20, 2025 he stole one black battery pack valued EC$189.00; one white Type-C charging wire valued EC$30.00; and a charging adaptor valued EC$25.00- a total value EC$244.00, the property of Osborne Jack of Kingstown.
On the date in question about 11:45 a.m, Jack went to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital to visit a friend. While there, he decided to charge the battery pack with the charger at an electrical outlet located inside the waiting area.
Jack then went outside and sat on a steel bench where he fell asleep leaving everything intact. When he woke up and checked his items were missing.
Acting on information received, Jack went in search of Williams and met him in the vicinity of Terry’s meat shop. Jack approached Williams and held onto him.
