On Friday March 1, seven local lasses will take to the stage at the Peace Memorial Hall for the first ever Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Venus United beauty pageant.

Coordinator of the pageant Jamal Jacobs told SEARCHLIGHT last week that the contestants who take the first three spots on show night will represent SVG overseas in three different pageants later this year.
The winner will participate in the Miss Venus Culture pageant in Anguilla in July, the first runner up will go to the Miss Caribbean United pageant in Grenada later this year and second runner up to the Miss Easterval pageant in Union Island.
On show night, the contestants will do an introductory speech after which they will appear in swimwear, do a talent then appear in evening wear followed by an interview segment.
“Expect the best from the girls, come out and support them,” Jacobs commented. Pageant action kicks off from 8 p.m. Pageant committee members include Usille Joseph, Roslyn Bannister and Roderick Alexander.
