Hearts of Charity gifts over 200 children of North Leeward

Sunday, December 18 saw over 200 vulnerable and needy children of the North Leeward constituency being treated to an afternoon of fun and much to eat, when New York based charitable organization Hearts of Charity hosted its second annual Christmas party in that constituency.

The children’s event got started shortly after one o’clock on Sunday afternoon, at the Chateaubelair Government School and saw the children spreading Christmas cheer through song. {{more}}After a fun filled afternoon, each child walked away with a gift bag, containing not only toys, but body products, clothing and stationery.

Hearts of Charity founder Esther Davis hailed Sunday’s event a success and explained that the most rewarding part of the exercise was seeing the bright smiles on each child’s face upon receipt of their gifts.

Davis said having grown up in a home where her parents could not have always afforded a toy for Christmas, she always dreamt of being that person to brighten the life of those persons who are less fortunate.

Davis expressed thanks to all the persons and entities who contributed in one way or the other to make this year’s Christmas party the success it was, with special mention of Digicel SVG, Cuthbert and Dora James of Chateaubelair for coordinating the event and the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The charitable organization’s founder said in 2015 a total of 100 children were gifted and treated to an afternoon of fun, while in 2016 that number doubled to over 200. She declared that she intends to touch even more lives in 2017.
