‘Happy SVG’ music video set to become tourism showpiece
The recently released âHappy SVGâ music video may soon become a showpiece at tourism exhibitions around the world.
Chief executive officer of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority Glen Beache said{{more}} at the videoâs launch last week that the video is material that can be used to promote this country across the world.
âWhat this product does for the Tourism Authority from a marketing perspective: we go to exhibitions and we show our promotional DVDs and thatâs good, but a lot of times we need to shake things up a bit at the shows and I think this gives us something else to show; the beauty of St Vincent and the Grenadines and what the destination is all about, and the versatility of the destination.â
Beache has joined a long list of persons who have praised the video, as well as the creative minds behind it, Calvert Jones and Alexei Crichton, for creating what is arguably one of the best versions of the cover of the song âHappy,â done by American singer and songwriter Pharrel Williams.
The song has motivated a number of countries to produce their own version of the video, with St Vincent and the Grenadines securing a place on that list.
âI think what they have done, they brought something to the forefront. This video gives Vincentians a reminder of how beautiful St Vincent and the Grenadines is and the different aspects of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
âI think in this day and age, a video like Happy that I have seen from St Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the best, without a doubt, and I donât think anybody would question that after they have seen it,â Beache added.
Also heaping praise on the initiative was Commissioner of Police Michael Charles, who, along with other members of the police force were featured in the video.
âI think this video shows the police in a different light; it shows the police being happy and once the police are happy the citizens would also be happy.
âWe are happy to be a part of it and I know this video will go a long way,â Charles said at the launch, which was held at Bickles restaurant.
According to Crichton, the video was filmed and produced over seven weekends, with the assistance of a number of videographers and filmmakers.
Jones said that he hopes the video would generate a sense of pride, and help people to focus more on things that make them happy. (JJ)
