Rhea, the daughter of Wilma Cain and Winston Phillips, placed 10th overall and 7th for girls. The confident and poised student related that she was elated upon hearing her results. Cain admitted that she was a bit nervous before the exams, but was “filled with confidence” after she completed the “easy” papers. Rhea gained 89.09 per cent, 96.67 per cent and 91.67 per cent for English, Math and General Paper, respectively.

Headteacher Yvette Bowen and Grade 6 teacher Sandra McLean, present during Cain’s interview, said that Rhea was always a polite and hardworking student who always excelled in her lessons. “I am so happy that Rhea achieved so much,” McLean added. The school had an overall pass rate of 52 per cent, an improvement from previous years, Bowens said, when the averages were in the 30’s and 40’s.

Rhea, who thanks God, her teachers, family and friends for helping her prepare for her exams, will be attending the Girls’ High School in September, but before that, the aspiring Lawyer hopes to go to summer camps, read her secondary school books and make new friends during the summer. (OS)
