Sinanan-Bollers appointed Executive Director of IFSA

Sharda Sinanan-Bollers has been appointed Executive Director of The International Financial Services Authority (IFSA).{{more}}

Bollers, whose appointment took effect on June 2nd, 2008, is a barrister at law and solicitor by profession and has worked with the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines in various capacities for the past 12 years.

As the former Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Bollers had been tasked with the responsibility of setting up the FIU in 2002 and, according to a press release from IFSA, “Leaves behind an FIU which has been hailed as one of the leading FIUs in the Caribbean region”.

She served as a former Crown Counsel at the Attorney General’s Chambers and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (1996- 2000) and former Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (1996 -2002). Bollers also acted temporarily as Chief Magistrate (July-Oct 2006).

As a British Chevening Scholar, Bollers obtained her Master’s degree in International Finance, Banking and Anti-money Laundering, from King’s College, London. Bollers received her LLB (Hons) degree and LEC from the University of the West Indies. Bollers is also a trained Legal Expert for the purposes of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Methodology on Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism, and has received training on compliance and regulation from several international sources.

Bollers take over from Mr. Dougal James, IFSA’s Deputy Executive Director, who had been acting in the position of Executive Director since early last year.
