Hey Rosie!

Since my boyfriend got a van, he is running life. Should I give up on him?

Hey Rosie,

I have been reading your articles over the years, and I have to say you give good advice.

I am a 20-year-old female and I have been in a relationship with this guy since I was in Form 3, until I finished school. Things were going well with us until he got a van.{{more}}

Since he got that van, our relationship has just been falling apart. He goes around with a lot of school girls. We have been apart for a couple months now and since we’ve been apart, I have not been able to trust any guy in my life. I really do love this guy and I know he does love me, but he just can’t stop running life and I can’t be with him when he is running life like that. I can’t find myself being with any other guy than him. I really do love this guy. Rosie am I to give up on him or not?

Give up or not?

Dear Give up or not,

I am going to say to you that you need to use this opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. No more of this back and forth emotions, because it is not doing you any good at this point.

In this life, we take different journeys and we learn some very hard lessons about what is good for us and what is not. At this point and given what you have said, I am going to go with the feeling that he is not good for your emotional health. He is going around with schoolgirls (a major no, no) and when you are apart, you can’t trust him.

Well the power lies within you and you can take that power back and know that you can survive without him. Take a deep breath and a leap of faith and put all that energy into you instead. Look into reconnecting with your true and loyal friends, continue to pursue your education and career goals, and most of all please seek counselling. You need this time and space to help you rebuild your self-confidence and self-worth. Know that sometimes break-ups can be a blessing in disguise. I have faith in you, so keep pushing forward and give up the past.
