Government scraps Secondary schools’ registration, tuition fees
Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information, Phillip Jackson, has highlighted a major educational shift as the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines will cancel all registration and tuition fees for Form One students attending all public and government-assisted secondary schools across the country starting September, 2026.
Historically, registration fees were paid by students to allow individual schools to fund their own materials, rather than relying entirely on government disbursements.
However, the Ministry of Education on July 15, 2026 agreed on the new policy regarding registration fees for incoming students and made the announcement on NBC Radio the same day.
Minister Jackson said that this policy fulfils the core ambitions of the Education Act, and directly mirrors Prime Minister Dr.Godwin Friday’s push for widespread educational access while delivering on the New Democratic Party’s promise to ease financial pressures on local families.
“The new details will be communicated to the public by each school through revised registration packages,” the education minister said.
