National Centre for Technological Innovation pilot-testing AI use for schools
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of the National Centre of Technological Innovation Inc., Petrus Gumbs, is aiming to work alongside the Ministry of Education to incorporate Artificial Intelligence into schools so students will no longer use the technology “willy-nilly,” but will instead use it more productively.
Gumbs told SEARCHLIGHT in an interview that humanity is now in an era where people no longer have to rely on university graduates to create technological advancements for society, considering that Artificial Intelligence is easily accessible and partially free to the general public.
He said that even Disc Jockeys have evolved from using discs and record players to laptops and switchboards.
“…persons who say that… AI will make our children dumb, the technology has evolved. The dance hall has not emptied, but the DJ has evolved beyond record playing and everything like that…”.
To enhance young students’ abilities to create their own work using Artificial Intelligence, Gumbs and his team are currently working alongside the Ministry of Education to see how AI can be effectively incorporated into schools.
