Weekend of tragedy strikes St Vincent and the Grenadines
Last weekend, May 29 to 31, 2026, was a tumultuous one in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) with four unnatural deaths, including the 17th local homicide, and a recorded earthquake.
On Friday, May 29, 27-year-old Rayjean Carter of Chateaubelair/Vermont was at a popular bar and party spot in Campden Park when she was approached by a male and stabbed multiple times.
Carter succumbed to her injuries and has been listed as SVG’s 17 homicide for 2026.
Then on Saturday May 30, police in Union Island started an investigation after the death of Zariah Lewis, a 26-year-old domestic worker of Mt. Grennan/Ashton, Union Island.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted, but reports are that Lewis was involved in an argument, suffered an asthmatic attack after which she collapsed, and sustained a fatal head injury.
Later on May 30, Carldon Robeiro, a 10-year-old resident of Park Hill was reported missing at sea off Colonaire.
