Second event sees mentally challenged inmates involved in football
A second event, geared at helping inmates at His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) with varying mental health issues better cope with some of their problems, was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The event, a small goal football match, saw inmates with psychological wellbeing disparities, engaging inmates deemed as not having mental health issues.
The new programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of National Security, through the Ministry of Legal Affairs, is aimed at improving mental health at HMP, and saw inmates from the general population selecting football teams and involving the inmates with variations in psychological health.
Forensic psychiatrist, philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PraxTherapy, Dr. Enyinne Williams, who designed the programme, explained that it was implemented in an effort to look into the well-being of inmates with mental health challenges.
